26. Remember Your Sisters and Brothers in Christ
What a blessing it is when the Lord provides us with fellow believers in Christ! To honor them, spend some time doing something special for those fellow believers. Think about those who worship with you regularly. What can you do for your Sunday School class? How can your children do something for their brothers and sisters in Christ?
At our women’s Bible study we recently created homemade magnets with caricatures of the women in our small group. Our daughters drew headshots of us, which we cut into rectangles and placed in magnetic photo holders. (See the templates section for an example of this activity.) Enlist your family’s various artistic skills to create caricatures for Sunday School, Bible study, Christian scouting group, or other friends.
Another idea for this activity is to take a photo of your group, make copies, frame them, and present one to each member.
Up for Discussion
Why is it important to have Christian fellowship? What are some ways you see the evidence of Christian fellowship in your family? Why is prayer a necessary part of fellowship? What other ideas can you think of for this activity?
The Bible talks about the necessity of Christian fellowship. Read 1 John 1:7, and discuss how this relates to our lives.
2 Corinthians 6:14 states, “Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?” Think about the importance of spending time with fellow Christians rather than those who are not Christians. Why might Paul have stressed this importance in this verse?
If we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
