For our Los Angeles get-togethers, we tend to go bright and sunny—with a touch of glamor. That’s why I named our Los Angeles drink the Hollywood Star. It looks like a sunny day or the flash of paparazzi cameras. We want to make everyone feel like a star when drinking a cocktail that deserves its own star on Hollywood Boulevard. I recommend serving this drink with a straw to make it even more festive.
1 thin grapefruit slice
2 ounces blanco tequila
¼ ounce Campari
¼ ounce fresh orange juice
2 ounces grapefruit soda
1 maraschino cherry (with stem)
Place the grapefruit slice along the inside wall of a martini glass. Fill the glass with ice, taking care to keep the grapefruit slice pressed against the glass. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Add the tequila, Campari, and orange juice. Cover and shake for 5 seconds. Strain into the martini glass. Add the grapefruit soda and garnish with the cherry.
