We named the drink for our music chapter after Paul’s mother, Marietta.
I wanted to keep this drink simple and elegant, just like Paul’s mom. Marietta’s Song is a beautiful, jewel-toned drink in an old-fashioned Champagne glass. Champagne is the only possible drink for a woman of such grace, energy, and beauty.
1¼ ounces pomegranate juice
¾ ounce simple syrup
½ ounce rose water
5 ounces champagne
Fill a cocktail shaker one-quarter of the way with ice. Add the pomegranate juice, simple syrup, and rose water. Cover and shake for 5 seconds. Strain into a Champagne glass. Top with the Champagne.
