As I’m sure you know, wanting to change an attitude is very different from actually doing it. We’ve all experienced any number of things we’d like to change about ourselves, but when the rubber meets the road, we haven’t managed to figure out how to make real change happen. Now is the time to move from theory to practice.

In this section we’ll move away from talking about the attitudes themselves in order to discuss general strategies for revamping your thought life. Chapter 7 will look at certain “best practices” you can develop to move from destructive thought patterns to constructive ones. Chapter 8 will show you how to stand up to everyday pressures that will tempt you into your old ways of thinking. Then chapter 9 will give advice on how to make your changes stick over the long haul.
