WHY CLUTTER STRESSES YOU
Small Changes To A Mental Well-Being
It’s just stuff, it shouldn’t cause you health problems by having stuff
out on the tables. It does though, regardless of how much we don’t want it to. Clutter in your home causes clutter in your mind, that’s a fact, Jack.
As you walk through your house intent on completing a project, you will likely get side-tracked by searching through piles for supplies and lost items. Your original plans to get things accomplished then become a thing of the past. This is mostly because of the fact that you start trying to “clean up” instead of staying on task.
It is almost impossible to just “clean up” a cluttered house. You just end up moving the clutter from one spot to another. Just like children who clean their rooms by putting everything under the bed, the problem isn’t solved, it’s just out of sight.
However in the case of clutter, it is not out of sight or out of mind. Knowing that you have drawers, closets, cabinets, tables, and pantries that are full of clutter and disarray can make your brain and body tense up. You always know that there is more work to be done. You probably always feel like the clutter (or the stress it causes) is in your very muscle tissue.
Everyone knows that stressed out bodies don’t work properly. Considering that your heart is a muscle, not allowing it to relax can cause multiple health issues that are pretty serious. Stress also eventually causes a person to take on a semi-permanent negative attitude and overall viewpoint on life.
