James Carroll is the author of eleven novels and seven works of nonfiction. His memoir, An American Requiem: God, My Father, and the War that Came Between Us, received the 1996 National Book Award in nonfiction. His book Constantine’s Sword: The Church and the Jews: A History was a New York Times bestseller and was honored as a Best Book of 2001 by the Los Angeles Times, the Christian Science Monitor, and others. Carroll is a columnist for the Boston Globe, and Distinguished Writer-in-Residence at New York University. He is married to the novelist Alexandra Marshall.
