When we stepped out of the funhouse and saw the President of the Asphalt Gods MC of Arkansas, my President I was as shocked as Levi. I didn't know what the hell was going on. I had told the biker our plan was going down tomorrow just like Levi had told me to.
What was he doing here?
And what was worse, he had Levi’s daughter by her neck. His weapon to her temple, he threatened her. I knew Levi would suspect me especially when Killer started praising my work. But when Killer pushed Haven into my arms, I had to play along or risk her young life.
Killer wanted me to dispose the girl. Straining my hand over her mouth, I shut her up. I dragged her into the funhouse.
I told her in a whisper, “You stay here, Haven. Do not say a word. I'm going to go save your dad. Hear me?”
Haven nodded her head. Then I let go of her mouth.
“I need you to go out of the back of this thing. Run as far as you can, through the woods. Get away from Royal Road for tonight. You hear me? You call your mom. You tell her to come and get you wherever you end up.”
Tears in her eyes, she looked scared to death, but she nodded her head. I watched her run through the funhouse before I rushed back outside only to see Levi on the ground.
Killer pointed his gun at him.
He asked me, “What did you do with his kid?”
“I snapped her neck,” I lied. “They'll find her in the funhouse. Won't that be amusing?”
Killer laughed as he cocked his pistol.
“Wait. Why don't you let me?”
Glancing over at me, he was curious. “This bastard really treat you that bad?”
“Oh, yes. This monster raped me every night for the last two weeks. I’d love to put a bullet in him.”
“You poor thing. I really underestimated you. I didn't think you could pull this off. But then I got your text a couple of hours ago.”
I felt for my phone, and I knew it was in the dressing room.
Who in the hell texted Killer with my phone?
“I was only in the area because we planned to do this tomorrow, but this is better, brilliant. With the chaos of this wild party, we're going to wipe all the Royal Bastards in Nashville out. I think you deserve to kill this one.”
Killer handed me the weapon. “I always say ladies first.”
Smiling, I took the gun from him and aimed it at Levi.
Killer said, “I have half a mind to let him live to find his daughter dead. But I'm not going to risk it.”
“I don't blame you. He'd kill you all. He is a fucking monster,” I said, trying to still convince him I was on his side.
Then I directed the gun at Killer. He couldn't even take a breath before I pulled the trigger and blew a hole in his chest. He collapsed beside Leviathan.
I fell too, trying to wake Levi.
He stirred, but just a little. He was groggy, but he was awake. Had he been listening all this time?
When he saw me, he growled, “You better run.”
The man looked like he could kill me. And it wasn't at all fun. Levi thought I betrayed him. Though I hadn't. And if he was half conscious all this time, he would think I killed his daughter, too.
I was in true danger. And then I thought about the fact, Killer wasn't the only Asphalt Gods MC biker here. There would be a whole slew of them. A battle had began. Coming to, Leviathan began to rise up, looking more like a monster than I’d ever seen him. Dropping the gun so he could protect himself, I did just what he said, I ran.
