Chapter 24
Spin was ready to kill. If D-loc wasn’t his best he’d of popped his coke addicted ass. He was debating killing Rod just to blow off some steam.
“Where is my wife?” he asked them heart pounding in his ears. He genuinely loved Shi, but he was a man and cheating, creeping and sleeping around is what men did. It was nothing against his wife, it was just the life he lived. The life he had to live; not only to survive but to take care of his.
“We got every nigga in the Bay with they ear to the ground. They know to look for Shi and get they shit off later,” D-loc said standing against the wall in Spin’s office.
“What if she ain’t in the Bay?” Rod asked. “What happened?”
Spin had been over it already. Shi caught him fucking C.C.; finally. She was bound to find out about it sooner or later. Spin just hoped it would have been later and not so soon. Spin was trying to look at the bright side. Because he’d only been caught once it would be easy for him to do damage control, if he could find her. He could plead and let her know it only happened once. He’d explain that he never before gave her reason to suspect him-since he’d been smart about keeping all his sideline hoes away from Shi. Money was a powerful motivation in that respect. He’d tell her he was weak and swear on his mother’s life that it wouldn’t happen again, though he knew that would be a lie.
He already fired C.C. and would blame the whole thing on her. He didn’t care about not having C.C., there was still Terri. They hadn’t been caught. It was a rush to Spin. The rush of getting’ it at home right under Shi’s nose, that was the only reason that he even gave C.C. and Terri any play. He hadn’t paid them any attention before he and Shi got married and she moved in.
What she don’t know… Spin thought.
But now she did know, Spin would do almost anything and everything to get her back.
“She caught you?” Like how?” Rod asked once Spin’s silence told him that he was not going to even attempt to answer his question. He was annoying him. He’d told them everything, how he was in C.C’s guts and no, he didn’t know how long Shi had been standing there. He’d only noticed her when he was changing positions and getting C.C. ready to ride reverse cowboy style. He froze when he saw her face. Her eyes were large and she had her mouth open. She let out a breath, turned and left. Spin saw the pain in her eyes and felt it in his heart.
“Fuck! Shi!” he called, but she was gone. He ran after her naked and all, but by the time he got to the door her car was racing by. She looked around and headed towards the gates.
She hadn’t answered her phone in the past two weeks and he knew it was all because of him. He sent C.C. home, took a shower and waited in their room for her to call or come home. But she didn’t come home. The next morning he called Simply Shi and spoke with Vicky. Either she was covering for Shi and knew where she was or it was the first she’d heard about Shi going M.I.A,-which he doubted.
A week and over a hundred calls later he was sure Vicky was just as in the dark as he was. He hated the bitch though she was fine and he’d often fantasized about her in bed and Shi joining. Yeah, Vicky was a bad bitch, but so was his wife.
He and Vicky were only talking because of Shi missing. He knew the relationship would return to its normal you-no-good-nigga-fuck-you-bitch relationship once they found Shi.
“Look G, you need to get on the mail and beg her ass to come home,” Rod said. “You need to pour it all out over the mail.” Spin had already done that, so many times that her voicemail was full.
Spin was getting more and more anxious and irritable, he was on the verge of shooting Rod when his cellphone rang. She wasn’t programmed in his phone, but he recognized the number. It was Vicky.
“Yeah,” he said heart pounding like it did every time she called and he called her wondering what he’d hear and what the update would be. “You find her?” His throat was going dry as he waited for her to answer. His stomach was cramping, all he wanted was one more chance. He’d change or at least try and change. He’d thought about it and convinced himself that he could be faithful and would be if that was the only way to get her back.
I swear to God I’ll do right by her. I’ll get out the game. I got enough. I’ll take her and we’ll move to the Bahamas or something. Anywhere she wanna go. Anything she wanna do.
“Yeah,” Vicky said and Spin sighed letting out all the tension he was holding inside.
The relief flooded him. “Where is she?” he asked.
He didn’t hear Vicky’s response because someone else answered him. The voice drew his attention away from the phone.
“Right here!”
He looked up just as Rod and D-loc looked to the door. Spin’s heart stopped like it did the first time he saw Shi at the Cheesecake Factory. There she stood in the doorway of his office looking like an angel in a white tee and tight white pants. Her hair was combed to the side and fell over her shoulder.
“Vicky she’s right here, let me call you back,” Spin said hanging up before she could respond. He looked at D-loc and then Rod and they got the message.
“Hey Shi, nice to see you,” Rod said walking passed her.
“You too Rodney,” she said in a calm voice.
“Nice to have you back Shi girl,” D-loc said. He always called her Shi girl as in Shy girl.
“Thanks Daniel.”
As the door closed them inside Spin was trying to read her. Once the doors were closed he took a cautious step, his heart was pounding hard again. She took a step towards him and he licked his lips getting ready to begin his apology.
“Just tell me it’ll never happen again. Let’s kiss, makeup and take me out to dinner.”
Spin felt relieved as he reached out and embraced his wife.
“I’m sorry baby,” he said. He thought he heard her say something back but didn’t catch it. “Huh?” he moaned rubbing his cheek against her hair.
“Nothing,” she said softly.
Spin held on to her not wanting to let her go again. His brain began to register what he thought she said, but he pushed it out of his head. It didn’t make any sense. He’d apologized; told her he was sorry and it sounded like she’d said, “You will be.”
