Getting into the Field
Stephen Youll, born in 1965, grew up in a small village in the north of England. He studied art at the New College Durham Art School and Sunderland University. After graduating he showed his paintings for the first time at the World Science Fiction Convention in 1987, and was hired to do his first professional book cover assignments by several publishing companies in the United States. Since then Stephen Youll has become one of our cherished masters of science fiction and fantasy art. His art has been seen in numerous art publications, museums and galleries throughout the United States. A book of his art, titled Paradox: The Art of Stephen Youll, was published by Paper Tiger, Collins and Brown Ltd. in August 2001 and features over a hundred of his favorite paintings and sketches.
