AUDIO TRANSCRIPT OF CNN
BROADCAST ON (DATE CENSORED)

Hello, I'm (NAME CENSORED), and I'm broadcasting live from Searchlight, Nevada, where yesterday a pregnant woman and her six-year-old son we're viciously mauled by a currently unidentified animal. We've just received a startling update from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, who have become involved with the case, that another attack has taken place several miles from the location of yesterday's incident.

A team of authorities followed a set of animal tracks several miles into the Mojave Desert, where a very large hole of unknown depth was then discovered.

(INTERVIEW WITH OFFICER)

"We don't know what it is. The locals we've spoken to claim that it wasn't here before."

The officers say that they were shocked to discover loud screams coming from within the hole and immediately assembled a rescue team as well as a group of experts qualified to enter the large recess. After several unsuccessful attempts to make contact with the person or persons who were screaming from within the hole, the team attempted to gauge the hole's depth but was met with similarly unsuccessful results.

A speleologist was then lowered securely into the cave with a camera mounted to his safety helmet. As he was being lowered, the screaming resumed, this time rising to such great volume that we are told the team on the surface had to cover its ears.

(INTERVIEW WITH OFFICER)

"We heard all that screaming from down in the cave again and I had to go like this (covers ears) to keep my head from exploding. It was so loud, it hurt my head. Then all that screaming turned into some kind of laughter; it sounded like something was laughing, and we decided we should pull (NAME CENSORED) up out of there.

Before they could draw the expert from the cave, however, he yelled to the team to wait, claiming that he had found a horizontal tunnel in the cave wall that seemed to lead to an entirely separate cave system. What happened next is even more surreal. We've just obtained a copy of what was recorded from the helmet cam, and we will now roll the footage. We warn you that what you are about to see is disturbing.

VIDEO BEGINS: (static) Camera peers into cave tunnel; the light from the safety helmet reveals that the tunnel is wide and seemingly vast. The camera angles up to the surface where the mouth of the cave has become a distant spot of daylight with tiny figures leaning over its lip.

"I think... I think I can get to the opening. I'm going to have a look".

(Indecipherable speech from above)

"Hang on! I think I can hear someone!"

The helmet light shifts around the dark entrance of the tunnel. Nothing is there. The camera returns to the surface quickly and then returns to the tunnel opening, where an ostrich-sized, lizard-like animal is now perched and leaps onto the dangling specialist. Screaming and what is presumably the animal shrieking are both heard before the camera is struck and static interrupts the recording. When the tape resumes, the specialist is being rapidly hauled up from the well. Once at the surface the helmet falls from his head, and the last remaining shot is of the sand.

OFFICER ON THE SURFACE: "Jesus Christ... "

ANOTHER OFFICER: "Get the medic over here."

FIRST OFFICER: "Is that his... ? Is he dead?"

OTHER OFFICER: "GET THE MEDIC OVER HERE!"

Tape ends.

Authorities have given no further information at this time in regards to the helmet cam video. The condition of the speleologist who was lowered into the cave is also unknown.
