competition (kom-puh-TISH-uhn)—a contest of some kind

confident (KON-fuh-duhnt)—having a strong belief in your own abilities

disqualified (diss-KWOL-uh-fyed)—banned from taking part in an activity, often because a rule has been broked

discus (DISS-kuhss)—a large, heavy disk that is thrown in a track-and-field event

equipment (i-KWIP-muhnt)—the tools and machines needed for a particular purpose

javelin (JAV-uh-lin)—a light, metal spear that is thrown for distance in a track-and-field event
