A Word from Ritter

I’ve been excited about writing “All Aboard for April Fool’s Trouble” ever since Carolyn Haines announced her idea for this anthology, and I was thrilled to be included with some of my very favorite authors. One of the things I love about April Fool’s Day is how much people’s reactions to the pranks tell about their personalities. I tried to incorporate that idea and the fun of the holiday in this story. In this tale, Trouble was on the trail of pranksters and thieves, and his sleuthing takes place in a historic train, going up a Durango mountain where my family and I vacationed one spring. I loved the uniqueness of the towns and the slower mode of transportation, and I thought the excitement of the robbery would be balanced by the trip up the mountain. Also give Trouble a better opportunity to sleuth out the clues, and Mia time to better understand her own dilemma. Suffice it to say that Trouble sniffs out every clue, and he takes us along for the ride—all with a slight British accent. Hope you enjoyed the story.
