CRUMBLE TOP

Makes enough to top one 9-inch pie

A classic choice if you’re forgoing a top crust.

INGREDIENTS

½ cup (1 stick) butter

1½ cups pastry flour (low protein)

¼ cup unrefined sugar

¼ cup brown sugar

¼ cup rolled oats

¼ teaspoon cinnamon

¼ teaspoon salt

TOOLS YOU’LL NEED

Measuring cups and spoons

Cutting board

Knife

Medium-size bowl

Fork or pastry blender

Airtight storage container

Cube the butter into lima bean-size chunks.

Mix the dry ingredients together in the medium-size bowl.

Cut in the butter with a fork or pastry blender till it comes together and crumbles.

Chill the mixture for at least 20 minutes in an airtight storage container prior to using.
