ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

I could not have done this book, or the ones leading up to this one, without the knowledge gained from other people’s experiences.

From my customers, through a couple of assault weapons panics and the marginally-assembled rifles they brought in. From the competitors I’ve locked horns with in matches, from basic club matches, to 3-gun national championships, to barrel-melting bowling pin matches.

And from the classes, learning, teaching, fixing, with my friends Jeff Chudwin and Ned Christiansen. In the space of a three- or five-day class, we get to see 25-30 or more officers thrashing ARs of various vintages, manufacturers and level of maintenance, through at least a thousand rounds and often more. As the late, great Yogi Berra once said, “You can observe a lot by just watching.” The most cost-effective way to learn is from others’ mistakes, and the classes afford us that boon.

And, the various manufactures who have loaned me gear to test, abuse, break, repair and report on, chief of which is Mark Malkowski and Stag Arms. Thanks, Mark.
