As I write this, two dogs and two cats are spying on me. Oh, they may look away, even pretend to snooze, but they’re paying attention to my every move. Did she stand up to go outside? Is she going to the kitchen? Oh, boy! Is she near the treat jar? Ho hum, she’s just making another cup of tea. Those of you with pets know exactly what I mean. They are the perfect spies with those innocent faces. They watch our every move and know all of our secrets. So I have to thank my cats and dogs for their cleverness and their antics that gave me ideas for this book.
In this time of COVID-19, our furry companions are even more important than ever. And so are our dear friends who stay in touch daily. I am so grateful for my writing pals: Ginger Bolton, Allison Brook, Laurie Cass, Kaye George, Daryl Wood Gerber, and Margaret Loudon. They are always just an email away, ready to discuss some grammatical oddity or just chat about life during the pandemic.
My editor, Michelle Vega, is always a joy. I am ever so thankful for her eagle eyes that catch what I have overlooked. And last but never least, I do not know what I would do without my agent, Jessica Faust, whose advice has always steered me in the correct direction.
