There’s a beautifying, alternative way to balance your diet that starts with the pH scale. The internal environment of our bodies operates at a slightly alkaline pH, which is influenced by our diet and daily habits. Problem is, the vast majority of the foods we eat create acid inside our bodies! This week, eat more alkaline foods, like green vegetables, lemons and limes (which are acidic to our tongues but have an alkaline effect in the body), and most fruits, herbs, and spices, to balance out acidic beauty foods like grains and nuts. While you’re at it, make an effort to cut back on acidic foods that aren’t helping your skin, from dairy and caffeine to meats and sugar. You can also balance your pH with the seasons, by loading up on alkaline veggies when they’re fresh in the spring, summer, and early fall. When late fall and winter arrive and you crave larger amounts of acid-forming grains, fats, and proteins, your body will already have a rich store of alkaline minerals. It’s a natural, and effortless, way to eat seasonally and beautifully, and maximize your glow.
