AUTUMN DAY 17

Living Your Best Life

image HOW TO GROW YOUR OWN GARLICimage

A single clove of garlic could be an anti-aging addition to pasta sauce—or the beginnings of a whole new head of garlic that you’ll harvest in a few months’ time. To grow fresh, antioxidant-rich garlic, break apart a head of good-quality garlic and plant each clove, pointy side up, in a sunny spot in the fall. Cover with mulch and watch for sprouts when spring arrives. Your garlic bulbs will be ready to harvest, dry, and cook by mid-summer.
