DESIGNED BY LINDA CYR
Stitches worked in the back loop form textured, stripelike rounds on this jaunty cloche. In sturdy wool yarn, this hat is just the thing to keep the elements at bay in fall or winter. A grosgrain ribbon and feather are the perfect way to add color and flair—switch them out for a new color when you want a change!

Finishing
Steam block hat to shape.
Place hat on head (this is important, hat may stretch a bit), measure around for band, positioning where desired (hatband may be larger than head circumference as band may be at an angle). Add 1" (2.5 cm) to band measurement and cut ribbon for band. Overlap ends by 1" (2.5 cm) and sew together. To make bow, cut a 14" (35.5 cm) length of ribbon. Fold ribbon in a figure-eight, creating loops with 6" (15 cm) and 8" (20.5 cm) of ribbon. Flatten at centers to create bow, sew in place. Cut a 2½" (6.5 cm) piece of ribbon for center, place bow at seam of band, wrap center around bow and band, sew in place, turn seam to the inside. Place band around hat and tack in place. Fold under end of feather pick and wrap with floral tape. Slip under bow and sew in place.
Weave in ends.
