Size D (3 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.
Silver fishhook earring wires, 1 pair; needle-nose pliers.
7 sts = 1" (2.5 cm) in dc stitch using 2 strands tog and size D (3 mm) hook.
Take time to check gauge.

Using 2 strands tog, ch 16.
Rnd 1: Sc in second ch from hook, hdc in next 2 ch, dc in next 2 ch, hdc in next 3 ch, sc in next 3 ch, ch 1, leave rem 4 ch unworked, turn to work on opposite side, sc in 3 ch, hdc in next 3 ch, dc in next 2 ch, hdc in next 2 ch, sc in last ch, ch 1, sl st in 1st sc on opposite side.
Rnd 2: Ch 2, hdc in next 2 hdc, [2 dc in next dc] twice, 2 dc in next hdc, hdc in next 2 hdc, hdc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc, sc in last 4 unworked fnd chs, ch 1, turn to work on opposite side, sl st in first 3 ch, sc in next ch, sc in next 2 sc, hdc in next sc, hdc in next 2 hdc, 2 dc in next hdc, [2 dc in next dc] twice, hdc in next 2 hdc, ch 2, skip 1 sc, sl st in ch-1 sp. Do not turn. Fasten off 1 strand.
Rnd 3: With 1 strand, ch 1, sl st in ch-2 sp, sl st in each st to tip, ch 1, turn to work on opposite side, sl st in each st to end of Rnd 2, ch 1, sl st in beg ch-1 sp. Fasten off.
Weave in ends.
Assembly
Open ear-wire loop with pliers by twisting loop open, not pulling loop apart. Hang base of leaf on ear-wire loop. Twist loop closed.
Rep for second earring.
