- Wash and rinse rice in a saucepan, swishing it around in the water to release starch, at least three times. Drain.
- Put 2 ½ cups water in a pan with rice and, if you like, soak for about half an hour before cooking (this helps rice to cook evenly and quickly).
- Heat pan on medium-high temp, let it boil, then cover. Switch to low temp. Let rice steam for 15 minutes without removing the cover. Remove from heat, let rice stand for another 5 minutes without removing the cover. Fluff and serve.
