THESE SWEETS ARE SIMILAR to American jello, with different and fresher fruit flavors and a typically firmer texture, though this is up to the cook. The method below is merely a suggestion: you can add more or less sugar and starch as you desire, as well as modifying the type of fruit and/or starch that you use.

- 1 cup fruit juice/puree, peeled and sieved if necessary (for example, Asian pear, persimmon, tangerine, grape, apple)
- ½ cup of sugar
- ½ cup starch (corn starch, potato starch, rice starch) mixed with 1 ounce water
Preparation
- Prepare the fruit juice as necessary for the type of fruit and force through a sieve for a smoother texture. Mix well with sugar, sieve again to remove any potential lumps.
- Stir starch into fruit and sugar mixture and heat to a soft boil. Boil for about 5 minutes, until mixture starts to thicken. Time will vary based on the kind of fruit and starch used.
- Pour into a container or molds and let cool for 4 hours before cutting into pieces or turning out of molds.
