The Radioactive Magma Cubes are right above us, standing from a nearby ridge. They had gotten even bigger than before which explains how they escaped the hole built by Paul.
“The… the… the…” General Bart wouldn’t stop stuttering.
“Come on now General Bart, what is wrong? Aren’t you going to tell us that we made this all up again?” Paul asked him ironically. “I thought this was all something made up in our heads. Apologies, I guess my imagination is running wild today and taking up physical space in the Nether!”
“Don’t be a fool, Paul! This is not the time to get back at me!” General Bart screamed.
“Of course it is. I want to shove it in your face! Now, I guess you will finally believe us.” Paul replied.
“Yes, I take it all back! It is true. I can see that!” General Bart was much more scared than before. All of his confidence had disappeared, and he wasn’t the same courageous man from before. “I have never seen Magma Cubes that big. What is wrong with those monsters? Could the radiation have done something so terrible to those beasts? They have grown exponentially in size.”
“Yes, it is the truth.” I replied. “We did not believe it at first either, but we saw it with our own eyes. The Radioactive Copper fell right into lava, and the Magma Cubes were swimming by. They were infected by the hazardous material which in turn gave them these mutations. They are not normal, and I do not think they can return to what they once were.”
“This is out of this world. I don’t want to fight these monsters anymore!” General Bart said.
“What?! You got to be kidding me, right?” Tom couldn’t believe it. “After all that talk about having only the valiant warriors and training them day and night, now you are going to back away and run like a coward?”
“I did tell you that my men and women are gallant, but I never mentioned fighting a monster like that!” General Bart screamed. “They are coming towards us!”
The Magma Cubes jumped up and came towards us. They were bigger than a Ghast now, and they were moving slowly.
“Thankfully, their speed hadn’t caught up with their sizes.” Paul said.
“Yeah, but every bounce they take is enough to cover some 40 blocks!” Nora said. “Careful, they’ll get here in two more bounces!”
“Yes, we need to deal with them before they do so. General Bart, are you ready to attack?” Paul asked him.
General Bart was paralyzed, staring at the Magma Cubes without saying a word.
“General Bart!” Paul grabbed him by the arms. “Come on, wake up old man! What is it going to be? Send your infantry to battle! The Magma Cubes are coming after us!”
“I… I… Yes, right. 15th Infantry, ready your weapons!”
The soldiers picked up their bows and loaded them up with arrows.
“Take aim!” General Bart ordered.
“Wow, finally! You are taking over the battle!” Paul said.
“Fire!” General Bart said.
The 15th infantry shot arrows at the first Magma Cube who was coming after us. The arrows penetrated the Magma Cube’s jellylike body, and the creature roared, probably in pain.
“Yes! Those were direct hits! Good job, guys!” Paul said.
“Yes, good job 15th infantry.” General Bart said, after recovering his composure.
However, the Magma Cube spat out all the arrows through its mouth. Most of the arrows had completely melted inside its stomach, and others were on fire.
“Did this giant monster spit out our arrows?” Paul asked.
“Uhm yes, it does seem like it.” I replied.
“15th infantry, load up once more!” General Bart ordered.
“General, I think this is not a good idea. The Magma Cube is intact! Arrows won’t do it any harm!”
“Fire!” General Bart dismissed Paul’s suggestion and fired yet another round of arrows at the Radioactive Magma Cube. Again, the arrows penetrated the gelatinous body and the creature simply spit them out in our direction.
“This is impossible…” General Bart said. “The monster is invincible!”
The Magma Cube took another leap in our direction. It was a bounce away from reaching us. Meanwhile, there were four other Magma Cubes coming right behind it.
“We can’t even beat one, and there are five of them! Retreat, everyone!” General Bart ordered, as he took off and ran from the Magma Cube.
“Hey! A General should not outrun his own infantry! Stay back and fight with your men and women, you coward!” Tom complained, as we ran from the Magma Cubes.
“This is no time to fight. Just run, Tom!” I advised him.
We ran with the Magma Cube on our tail. The slow monster leaped behind us, while we tried to gain some distance before figuring out what to do next or how to fight it.
