I confess I’m a true crime junkie. Apparently, the many stories I encountered during my career as a criminal defense lawyer weren’t enough of a fix because my wife, Lainey, and I will stay up into the wee hours watching Keith Morrison and friends digging deep to solve crimes and we’re right there with them, following the evidence wherever it leads. I like to think my fascination with crime shows represents a craving for justice, and that’s the inspiration for this book.
Thanks, as always, to Rad and Sandy and the entire crew at Bold Strokes Books for giving my stories a home at the best publishing house in the biz. Huge thanks to my smart, funny, and very patient editor, Cindy Cresap. Tammy, thank you for your thoughtful graphic design work on this and so many of my other covers.
The writing community has given me so many gifts, the most special of which is the friendships I’ve made during this journey. Big hugs to Georgia, Melissa, Kris, Elle, Ruth, and Ali. I don’t get to see you all nearly enough, but when we get together, it’s like coming home. Paula—thanks for being the best bestie a girl could have. You get me and I’m forever grateful for our friendship.
Thanks to Lainey for always believing in my dreams and sharing in my adventures. I couldn’t live this dream without you, and I wouldn’t want to. I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us.
And to you, dear reader, thank you for taking a chance on my work and coming back for more. Every time you purchase one of my stories, you give me the gift of allowing me to make a living doing what I love. Thanks for taking this journey with me.
