Harry Potter

  1. Emma won the role of Hermione in the Harry Potter film series when she was just 9 years old.
  2. She only auditioned because her friends were, and she thought it would be a laugh.
  3. Although Emma was already skilled at dancing, she took special lessons in waltz in preparation for the Yule Ball scene in Goblet of Fire.
  4. Most people would agree Emma looks quite different to how Hermione Granger is initially described... Hermione is said to have huge front teeth and wild, frizzy hair!
  5. When filming the first few Harry Potter films, Emma says that she had a major crush on Tom Felton (who played Draco Malfoy).
  6. Emma loves animals, and when filming for Harry Potter she would often spend any ‘down time’ visiting the animals used in the movies.
  7. As well as having to act (of course), Emma also studied for up to five hours a day whilst she was on set.
  8. Emma was given a nickname pretty early on: “One-Take Watson” - this is because she had a reputation for being able to get her scenes filmed on the first take.
  9. After filming the final instalment, Emma wanted to make a ‘clean break’ from her character. One of the things she did was have her hair cut short in a ‘pixie’ style. However, some films needed re-shooting, so Emma had to put on a wig!
  10. Emma almost quite the Harry Potter franchise after Order of the Phoenix, however finally decided that the positives outweighed the negatives and signed up for the final batch of movies.
