STAR CHARTS BY SEASON

SUMMER (Chart reflects July 1 at 10 p.m. from 40° latitude)

Earth turns toward the galactic core in summer, treating us to some of the most beautiful objects in the sky. Let the bright, orange star Antares—low in the southern sky—be your guide. It is at the center of the Scorpio constellation and very close to the galactic core. Don’t miss the cross representing Cygnus, the Swan, which straddles the Milky Way, and also contains beautiful objects.
