Linking Your NOOK Tablet to Facebook

In order to share book quotes, post reviews, lend and borrow books, and so on with your Facebook friends, you need to first link your NOOK Tablet to your Facebook account. When you link your account, it does more than just let you do all that—you’ll also have all your Facebook friend information imported into your Contacts list, so you’ll also be able to get in touch via email and more.

It’s simple to link to Facebook. First, make sure you’re connected to a WiFi network. Then do the following:

  1. Press the NOOK button and select Settings→Social→“Manage your Accounts.”

  2. From the Social settings screen that appears, in the Facebook section, tap Link Your Account.

  3. On the screen that appears, type your Facebook user name and password. Then tap “Log In.”

  4. From the screen that appears, tap Allow. If you instead tap Don’t Allow, your Facebook account won’t be linked to your NOOK.

You’re sent back to the Social settings screen, with an indication that you’ve linked to Facebook.

Your NOOK is linked to your Facebook account, and you can start using all of its features as outlined in this chapter and in Using Facebook and Twitter on Your NOOK Tablet. In addition, your Facebook contacts start to be imported into the NOOK Contacts app. It may take several minutes for all of them to be imported. To see your contacts, from the Apps area, tap Contacts, and from the drop-down menu that appears, tap Facebook Contacts. They’ll be there, and they’ll automatically sync as well.

If you decide you want to unlink your NOOK and Facebook accounts, first get back to the Social settings screen by pressing the NOOK button and selecting Settings→Social→“Manage your Accounts.” Then in the Facebook area, tap Unlink Your Account. When you do so, you’ll no longer be able to use the NOOK’s Facebook, features. In addition, all your Facebook contacts get deleted from your NOOK. You can easily link again.
