Appendix 7

Handwritten note from Kitching to Scott, 14 August 1944

Dear Murray

I am sorry to hear about Boothie. But I’m very confident in your ability to fight the Bde. Keep going tonight until dark then regroup your armour for a big effort tomorrow morning. Brigadier Jefferson is going to capture (a) OLENDON (b) High ground 182438 (unless already taken by your motor Bn (c) EPANCY.

We have to capture FALAISE tomorrow.

Sincerely
George Kitching
