I look up at the green-eyed hunk, I mean Fynn, debating my choices. My fingers grasp the purse a little tighter. It almost happened, what I’ve dreaded for years. If it hadn’t been for Fynn and his quick thinking, I wouldn’t be here right now. Trusting him seems to be my only choice.
“Well looks like you’ll have a roommate for tonight.” I smile at him, “Didn’t you say something about a private show before I passed out?”
He throws his head back and laughs, one of those deep full laughs that make you smile and want to laugh with the person. “Yes, I did. Though normally you would have to pay for that privilege. How about we head out now? I think that Rellourst is still here and can escort us home.”
“But won’t it be unsafe for him to come back here?” I ask. For all I’ve heard about this planet, I have never visited it before. I’d hate for someone to be injured on my account.
“No, he lives in the same building. You could say that he is our...bodyguard.”
Something about how Fynn says that makes it sound like a horrid thing, but I can’t understand why he would resent someone helping to keep him safe. Or maybe I can when I think of my past and what I’ve done to be able to travel on my own.
“Ok, then let’s go.” I stand up and rub my head. Whatever they gave me to knock me out, has left me with a headache.
“After you, milady.” He sweeps his hand out in front of him, in a kind of bow.
“Thank you, sir.” I walk out into the hall and wait for him. It feels odd to lead the way when this is his turf.
“I have to warn you, Relly is a bit different.”
I look up at him, “What do you mean?”
“You’ll see,” he says, leading me through the kitchen and to a small hallway. He knocks on the door and waits.
I tap my foot nervously. I hate surprises and not knowing what will happen. The door opens and I find I’m eye level with a waist that is about as wide as the doorframe. The “man” bends down so that he’s almost doubled over, twisting his body so that he can go through the door sideways. Once in the hall, he stands, his shoulders hunched and his head grazing the ceiling. It’s hard to take him all in, from his height, to his oddly shaped head that looks more like someone took a circle, cut it in half and stuck it on his shoulders.
“You finally ready?” he asks, his voice higher than I would have expected, almost sounding girlish.
“Sorry, Relly. But my pigeon here,” Fynn throws his arm around my shoulder, “and I were a little preoccupied.” He kisses my temple and whispers, “Play along. I’ll explain later.”
“Sorry, Relly is it? Fynn here just made me so hot and bothered that I couldn’t wait to go back to his place. And boy did he show me a time tonight.”
Fynn pinches my arm in retaliation for my outrageous statement and I almost feel bad as Relly’s greenish skin turns an odd shade of grayish green pink, what I think is the Polzenian version of blushing.
“Well, let’s get you back before Umbri sends the guard out.” Relly pushes the outer door open and then crouches down to go outside. We silently follow the giant outside.
“Wh—” I start to ask, but Fynn leans in and kisses me, softly at first but then his tongue follows the crease between my lips and a moan escapes me, giving him entrance to my mouth. His tongue delves in, and I’m lost to everything going on around us. Maybe that drug is still in my system, but I can’t end this kiss if my life depends on it.
“Come on, you two. I want my bed tonight.” Relly calls back to us.
Fynn pulls back, then leans in and kisses me one more time. “Honey, just like your hair.”
“What?” I manage to ask through the lust filled haze that fogs my mind.
“Your hair is the color of honey and you taste as sweet as the real thing. I wonder if the rest of you tastes as sweet.”
Laughing, I push him away and walk outside. “I think you already know the answer to that.” I turn and raise an eyebrow at him. If we’re to play this game, then he best keep up.
“I wouldn’t mind sampling again, just to see if memory serves me right,” he tosses back with a devilish grin.
