“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
LUKE 19:10
We hear the stories of people lost in the mountains. Some were hiking; others were out for a drive. Often the weather was bad or darkness was settling in. Sometimes things didn’t end well; other times it was as though something or Someone was guiding the search and rescue team. We wonder why one lost person is found and another is not. It’s one of life’s many mysteries. We realize, even when we don’t stop to think about it, that life here on earth is temporary.
That’s one of the reasons we have a desire to worship. Our longing for God is satisfied only by God, though we so often try to appease it with other things. “Since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse” (Romans 1:20). Similarly, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. . . . They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world” (Psalm 19:1, 3–4).
When we hear His voice and yield to Him, we receive salvation as just the first of many blessings (John 3:16; Revelation 3:20). There are many other promises as well; here are a few of them. Jesus came so that we “may have life and have it abundantly” (John 10:10 ESV). He forgives our sin (Jeremiah 31:34; 36:3; Acts 3:19; and many more). He has sent the Holy Spirit to be our Comforter and Counselor (John 14:26 AMP). He is always with us (Isaiah 41:10; Matthew 28:20).
When the Lord finds us, He changes our lives in so many ways!
O Lord, You are the Holy One, my Creator and my Redeemer. I worship You. Thank You for Your many gifts!
