Acknowledgments

My daughter Alex and I had a wonderful time in Yorkshire, scouting out locations to be used for this book. While there, we stayed at the marvelous Holdsworth House and Hotel (www.holdsworthhouse.co.uk), which dates back to 1633. Although the hotel provided inspiration for Thornecroft Castle House and Hotel, none of the people we met there appear in my book nor was there a murder in all the time we stayed.

We enjoyed afternoon tea, and discovered coronation chicken sandwiches, at the Wolseley in London (www.thewolseley.com). Thanks to Alex for driving us around. Some of Lily’s terror as she drives the side roads of Yorkshire was the same as mine.

I’d like to thank my friends Dave Carpenter and Karen Ralley for letting me watch their two gorgeous horses being checked over by a farrier.
