Hollywood Studios

  1. Hollywood Boulevard: The half-oval plate in the pavement at the junction of Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard is marked Est. 1928, the year Mickey Mouse was first featured in the cartoon short Steamboat Willie.
  2. Tower of Terror: Inside each elevator is a safety inspection certificate signed by Mr. Cadwallader and dated October 31, 1939, the day the Tower Hotel opened. The inspection certificate is number 10259, the numeric version of October 2, 1959, and refers to the date the first Twilight Zone episode aired.
  3. Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster: The delivery address for G-Force Records reads 1401 Flower Street. Why did Imagineers choose that street and number? It’s the address of Walt Disney Imagineering in Glendale, California.
  4. The Great Movie Ride: In the James Cagney scene just after the Mary Poppins setting, the bottom of one of the posters on the wall has been torn, and you can see Mickey Mouse’s shoes peeking out from behind.
  5. Minnie Mouse Meet and Greet: The Ailurophobia movie poster in the queue for Minnie Mouse’s meet-and-greet refers to the fear of cats. It’s easy to understand why Mickey and Minnie would consider this one a horror movie!
  6. Toy Story Midway Mania!: The barcode on the Toy Story Midway Games Play Set is numbered 121506, referring to the date Toy Story Midway Mania was officially announced as Hollywood Studios’ newest attraction.
  7. Streets of America: The red fire hydrant next to the Chevrolet Building opens at random, with a cooling shower of water that children and children-at-heart can’t resist.
  8. Muppet*Vision 3D: The poster hanging from the ceiling in the pre-show area is a fitting memorial to the Muppets creator, Jim Henson, Muppetized, and with a movie camera lens around his neck.
  9. Stage 1 Company Store: The clothesline above the cash register and the upper-floor hotel rooms are references to The Great Muppet Caper movie, with the addition of a pair of Mickey Mouse’s shorts.
  10. Star Tours: The Adventures Continue: The letters above the top circle on the panel to the right of the Information board read, 2R-OP3C. Read them backward and you have the names of Star Wars’ two most famous droids.
  11. Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular: The symbol on the tail of the German Flying Wing airplane isn’t a swastika, though your eye is fooled into thinking it is. Instead, it’s a combination of the background of the Nazi flag and the Luftwaffe insignia, the Balkan Cross.
  12. Fantasmic!: The riverboat ferrying the characters at the end of the show is a replica of the boat in Steamboat Willie. Notice who is up in the wheelhouse piloting the boat?
