Your local permitting authority may want to see spec sheets or technical drawings for the container(s) you plan to use to build your shipping container home. This is because it wants to ensure that the container is strong enough to serve as a home. Getting the spec sheets or technical drawings can be a challenge for used containers, though. Containers that are many years old may have been purchased or leased by many different companies over the years, and there’s a good chance none of these companies have the documents or information you seek. The only option, then, would be to try to determine the container’s manufacturer, get in touch with that manufacturer, and hope it still has the spec sheet and technical drawings for that particular container.
