Beyond wanting

How close are you today

To your heartbeat?

Do you hear the music of the sun?

What did the fresh snow whisper

To your warm feet this morning?

The mind thinks you have a ring

Of remembrance on your finger—

The truth is

You are the ring of radiance

Around the galaxies.

You are the molecules and the dust

From which the moon is made.

A friend is the one who wakes up

and finds You inside her laughter.

Don’t run away.

Meet everything as they

Come your way—

Pain, pleasure, fear, sorrow—

But don’t cling to anything

And anyone.

The one who has arrived

Is beyond wanting.
