Interviewed in Quebec before he became prime minister, Justin answered the following question . . .
“Is Canada better served when there are more Quebecers in power than more Albertans in power?”
. . . in the following manner:
“I am Liberal, therefore of course I think that the answer is yes. Certainly, when we look at the great Prime Ministers of the 20th century, the only ones that have held up are MPs from Quebec. We have a role. This country, Canada, is ours.”
Because pandering to regional divisions is “exactly not what the Liberal Party is gonna do”!
The only thing to add, I suppose, is: Great prime ministers of the twentieth century? Paul Martin? Really?
Remember when Justin announced that all Liberal senators would henceforth be considered independent and would no longer have to vote along party lines? Turns out that Justin’s subsequent, supposedly “independent” appointees voted along Liberal party lines 94.5 per cent of the time. Funny, that.
Question: Is slavishly toeing the party line 94.5 per cent of the time “independent”?
