Have you seen that cool Indigenous tattoo Justin Trudeau has on his shoulder of a thunderbird, which is totally not cultural appropriation? Why not? Because it’s Justin! He has a special relationship with Indigenous peoples in Canada! We know this because he told us. Yay Justin! But don’t just take his word for it. Consider the following question posed in the House of Commons by Cree member of Parliament Romeo Saganash:
“WHY DOESN’T THE PRIME MINISTER JUST SAY THE TRUTH AND TELL THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLES THAT HE DOESN’T GIVE A F*CK ABOUT THEIR RIGHTS.”
Um . . . Okay. So maybe that’s not the best example. The MP in question would later withdraw the use of the f-bomb but not the sentiment behind it.
