Chapter Twenty-Six

The rest of the weekend was as decadent as Friday afternoon had been. I was afraid that by Monday, I'd be too sore to sit on a horse for my riding lesson. Cash had definitely let loose this weekend and shown me his full dominance and kinky side. When I sassed him and told him I wouldn't call him master, he'd taken that wooden spoon to my backside. It had been hot as hell. He didn't really expect me to call him Master, but he did expect me to obey him in the bedroom. I didn't have a problem with that. I loved his dominance in the bedroom.

He'd taken me to the gun range, as promised, and showed me a variety of pistols. Under his tutelage my aim improved. On Saturday night, we had dinner at a popular Italian restaurant in the next county, and had gone dancing at the local bar. When we’d gotten home, he bent me over the couch in the den, lifted my skirt up, moved my panties to the side, and fucked me hard. I think I came in less than two minutes. This morning, he woke me by nibbling on my breasts. As soon as I was awake, he instructed me to get on all fours. He’d turned my ass red, then took me from behind. Afterward, he ran a bath for me and thoroughly, but gently, washed me. It had been wonderful. For as rough as he sometimes was, he could be just as gentle. It was a nice balance.

This weekend had been a nice distraction from what had happened in the bookstore. I didn’t understand why this guy was after me. Was it really all because I’d broken his nose? It seemed a little extreme. His voice was unforgettable, so I had no doubt in my mind that it had been the biker from the pub a few months back. Why would he set my pub and my home on fire? Was he truly that crazy and holding that big of a grudge? Could his ego be so fragile that he wouldn’t stop pursuing me until I was dead? I shook my head. I just didn’t understand. Maybe I’d handled that incident all wrong. I was definitely paying for it now.

As I looked over the job leads, it occurred to me that even if I got an interview, I was too scared to go out alone. What if the biker found me again? I felt like a hostage and it pissed me off, but I wasn’t stupid. I wasn’t going to give this guy another chance to find me alone. I hoped that he screwed up and came out of hiding, so that Cash and his deputies could arrest him. I’d feel a hell of a lot safer if he was behind bars.

I found Blue in the den with her job leads. I hated the thought of her going out looking for a job while that biker bastard was still on the loose. It actually terrified me. I’d never been more scared than when I’d gotten that call from Sissy saying someone had attacked Blue in the bookstore. I’d never run as fast as I did that day. Rage seared through me to find her crumbled on the ground. To find her unhurt had been a blessing.

I needed to talk to her about my financial situation. I didn’t want any secrets between us and that I was not just a small town sheriff was a hell of a secret to keep. I had been occupied with how to tell her this whole weekend. I think in hindsight, I’d been so afraid she’d leave after finding out the truth that I was trying to bind her to me through sex. I couldn’t get enough of her. Even now, my dick was hard, and all I was doing was watching her from the doorway. She was biting that bottom lip the way she did when she was unsure about something. I wanted to go to her and nibble on that lip myself. She must have sensed me watching her, because she turned and smiled at me.

“Hi Darlin.” She got up from the couch and walked over to me. I pulled her close, giving her a heated kiss. When we broke apart, she was flustered, but had a great big smile on her face.

“Wow,” she said, touching her lips pretty much the same way she did when I kissed her for the first time.

“Indeed,” I replied, pulling her back to me. I gave her another light peck. “Come sit, there’s something I need to talk to you about.”

“Ok, is everything ok?” she asked, as we made our way back to the couch.

I nodded. “Everything is wonderful, baby. There’s just something I need to tell you,” I explained. When we got to the couch, I pulled her down onto my lap. I wanted to be able to touch her while I told her my big secret.

She settled down on my lap, giving me that sassy smile that I like so much. “What, are you gonna tell me that you are secretly gay?”

I grunted. “You know, that spoon never did make it back to the drawer, wench.” I pinched her thigh lightly. She only giggled at me.

“Well what is it, then? You look mighty nervous, Sheriff.” She smoothed my hair back from my forehead.

I didn’t know how to begin or where to begin, so I just blurted it out. “I’m rich, very, very rich.”

She laughed, then kissed my forehead. She pulled back with a shit-eating grin. “That’s what’s got your briefs in a twist?”

“Well yeah, it’s an awfully big secret. I’m talking about millionaire status here, Blue. I’m not just a small town sheriff,” I said, trying to convey the seriousness of it.

“Cash, Darlin. I know. I’ve known for a long while now. People talk and even though you tried to keep your secrets, people have found out that you and Dalton paid to build the new stadium. They also know you paid to get the ball park fixed. Old man Brightwater told me a story one day about how the young St. Bryant boy hit it big with the stock market when he turned a ripe old twenty-five. And before that, his daddy had sold some show horses that had brought in a pretty penny. Cash, honey, I know, and it doesn’t change a damn thing. I’m still paying you back for the clothes,” she said with a grin.

I just shook my head. Jesus, I’d been worried about nothing. I guess Dad’s and my secret isn’t that big of a secret after all. I was relieved that Blue knew. I didn’t care who else knew, as long as she did and it didn’t change the way she felt about me.

I grabbed her face between my two hands and pulled her lips to mine. I loved this woman and I planned on making her Mrs. Cash St. Bryant as soon as possible.

“Will you marry me, Blue?” I asked.

She pulled away from me and shook her head. “You sure know how to knock me off my feet, Sheriff.”

I laughed. “That’s a good thing. It’ll make for a good long marriage.”

“Cash, are you sure about this? I have nothing to my name, literally just the clothes on my back and they belong to you.” It was said with a wealth of sadness.

“Baby, I could care less about that. I love you and I want you in my life, always. I want to have a family with you. Most of all, I want to take care of you and give you the world. I love you,” I said again. I would never be able to tell her that enough. She meant everything to me. If she asked me to give up the world for her, I would.

“I love you too,” she told me with tears in her eyes.

“Then put my boy out of his misery and say yes, girly,” Dale said from the doorway. Blue blushed, but laughed. She looked at me with nothing but love in her eyes.

“Yes, Sheriff, I’ll marry you,” she said, with the biggest smile ever. Dad whooped from the doorway and I crushed her to me.

“Thank you baby. You just made me the happiest man on earth.” I kissed her gently, sweetly.

“If dad wasn’t here, I’d take you right here on the couch,” I whispered in her ear. I loved watching her blush. She playfully slapped my chest, but hugged me tight.

“Well I’d say we’ve got something to celebrate!” Dale said, with a happy grin on his face. The dogs barked and jumped at the happy sound of Dale’s voice. Guess they were also happy that Blue had said yes.
