VAMPIRES

APP: Vampires are a pop culture phenomenon. Real or fantasy, there are people who’ve bought into this way of life and developed a morbid taste for blood. They’re not like Hollywood’s Dracula or Edward. These people have been deceived into believing that they’ve been changed and now possess immortality and supernatural powers. They believe they have a capacity to absorb, channel, and manipulate “pranic energy” (life force). Vampire beliefs are really about power and searching for it from a source other than God. It’s important to guard against the blurring of fantasy and reality that becomes hard to distinguish in real life.

The word vampire is never mentioned in the Bible. But God does talk a lot about blood and power. Blood is sacred to God, and the devil is perverting its meaning and importance, deceiving some people into thinking that by drinking blood they can get power. Only the living God can give us the power we need.

Are vampires nibbling away at your time, energy, and passion? There’s nothing wrong with fantasy unless you become so consumed with it that you’re having trouble in the real world with real people. How about your relationship with Jesus? Has it taken a backseat to Bella, Edward, and Jacob? Think about the amazing unconditional love and ultimate sacrifice Jesus made for you.

“If any one of the house of Israel or of the strangers who sojourn among them eats any blood, I will set my face against that person who eats blood and will cut him off from among his people. For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it for you on the altar to make atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that makes atonement by the life. Therefore I have said to the people of Israel, No person among you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger who sojourns among you eat blood. Any one also of the people of Israel, or of the strangers who sojourn among them, who takes in hunting any beast or bird that may be eaten shall pour out its blood and cover it with earth. For the life of every creature is its blood: its blood is its life. Therefore I have said to the people of Israel, You shall not eat the blood of any creature, for the life of every creature is its blood. Whoever eats it shall be cut off.”

LEVITICUS 17:10–14 ESV

“Since they shed the blood of your holy people and your prophets, you have given them blood to drink. It is their just reward.”

REVELATION 16:6 NLT

You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons.
