EVOLUTION

APP: Evolution is the gradual process of something changing into a different and usually more complex or better form. This process can be applied to the gradual development of many different things. For example, through practicing and working out we could evolve into a good musician or athlete. Think about how cell phones have evolved the past few years into amazing devices for collecting and processing a variety of content and information.

Most often we find the word evolution applied to the gradual development of animals, humans, and plant life over millions of years into what they are today. The idea is that the genetic composition of a population changes during successive generations as a result of natural selection. This is supposed to result in the development of a new species. It’s an interesting concept, but if this were true, why haven’t there been changes and new species with animals and humans in a long time? It actually takes more faith to believe in evolution than creation. We should start giving the Creator more credit for all He has done. And remember, we don’t have to be afraid to use the word evolution. What matters is how we apply it.

God spoke: “Swarm, Ocean, with fish and all sea life! Birds, fly through the sky over Earth!” God created the huge whales, all the swarm of life in the waters, and every kind and species of flying birds. God saw that it was good. God blessed them: “Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Ocean! Birds, reproduce on Earth!” It was evening, it was morning—Day Five. God spoke: “Earth, generate life! Every sort and kind: cattle and reptiles and wild animals—all kinds.” And there it was: wild animals of every kind, cattle of all kinds, every sort of reptile and bug. God saw that it was good. God spoke: “Let us make human beings in our image, make them reflecting our nature so they can be responsible for the fish in the sea, the birds in the air, the cattle, and, yes, Earth itself, and every animal that moves on the face of Earth.” God created human beings; he created them godlike, reflecting God’s nature. He created them male and female. God blessed them: “Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take charge! Be responsible for fish in the sea and birds in the air, for every living thing that moves on the face of Earth.”

GENESIS 1:20–28 MSG

Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.” But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water. By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.
