APP: Justice is concerned with the proper ordering of people and things within a society. It’s a very important idea that has been debated throughout human history. What is justice, and what does it demand of individuals and societies? It is distinct from charity and compassion. Some define it as a view of moral rightness based on fairness and ethical values. But who decides what’s fair and what should be the proper distribution of wealth and resources in society? Is the arrangement to be based on what is equal or status quo? It’s a hotly debated subject that has often been associated with fate, reincarnation, or a cosmic plan for life. There are countless examples of injustice—acts that inflict undeserved hurt—in our world today. Many are crying out for justice in the midst of observing human suffering—whatever form it may be. Our God is a God of justice who will one day right the wrongs. We have to realize that life is not fair, but we also cannot simply ignore the injustice we see. As followers of Jesus, we must do all we can with God’s help to seek justice for those who are not able to do so for themselves.
The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love.
