APP: Lust is a struggle for lots of people living in our seductive culture. Being bombarded daily with advertising for material stuff can cause us to have an uncontrolled appetite for bling and bank. These intense feelings or cravings for things like cars, clothes, and cash can easily own our emotions and consume us. But even worse can be intense feelings of sexual desire. These thoughts and feelings can quickly and easily become uncontrolled in our life. And it’s not just a guy thing. Girls struggle with lust just like guys do. And all of us can have trouble sorting through our emotions to discover if we are dealing with lust or love. We might think that we really care about someone when instead we really are craving them. Lust can get so intense and out of control that we end up in a type of emotional prison. It can be a tough one to escape from. But if we truly want to escape from the bondage of lust, God can give us the strength and courage we need to be free. It takes time and discipline, but with His help it’s doable.
Behave like obedient children. Don’t let your lives be controlled by your desires, as they used to be.

And because we belong to Christ Jesus, we have killed our selfish feelings and desires.
GALATIANS 5:24 CEV
Dear friends, I warn you as “temporary residents and foreigners” to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls.
1 PETER 2:11 NLT
Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don’t let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires.
ROMANS 13:14 NLT
For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.
