APP: Money—we need it to get bling as well as the basic necessities of life. We can’t live without money, and we usually find ourselves in a position of needing more of it. Whether it’s plastic or cash, it’s accepted as payment for goods and services along with repayment of debts. Jesus spoke more about money than any other topic—including heaven and hell—except the kingdom of God. Jesus knew that there is a major connection between our spiritual life and our attitudes and actions concerning money and possessions. He recognized the potential danger for being consumed by the pursuit of acquiring money and basing our security on it instead of faith in God. But there’s also the potential for generosity. He didn’t condemn possessions or commend poverty. But he does want us to “get” how important money is and how to properly use it. Part of having the right “money ’tude” is understanding that it all comes from God and we are supposed to wisely use how much He gives us. This is especially true for those of us living in North America, because we are some of the wealthiest people in the world.
You cannot be the slave of two masters! You will like one more than the other or be more loyal to one than the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
MATTHEW 6:24 CEV
Money that is gained in the wrong way disappears. But money that is gathered little by little grows.
