PEACE

APP: We can search for peace in many different ways and places. But it’s tough to identify it and find it. It’s more than good feelings or an action or positive thinking or a word you chant. Some might say it’s freedom from arguments, stress, or fear. The world that we live in defines peace as lack of conflict. But peace isn’t necessarily the absence of war. You could be in the middle of a fierce battle yet still be at peace. Or you could be chillin’ on an amazing tropical island and lack peace because of things like uncertainty, fear, and doubt at war within you. Deep and lasting peace is a result of God at work in our lives. It’s about a state of being—inner contentment and rest. God’s peace gives us confidence and assurance no matter what we are experiencing. True peace gives us the ability to live without fear of the present or the future. We can’t live in peace with others unless we are at peace with ourselves. And we can’t be at peace with ourselves until we are at peace with God. Jesus will give us peace if we will accept it from Him.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

PHILIPPIANS 4:6–7 NIV

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

COLOSSIANS 3:15 NIV

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD himself, is the Rock eternal.

ISAIAH 26:3–4 NIV

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

ISAIAH 9:6 NKJV

If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men.

ROMANS 12:18 NASB

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”

MATTHEW 5:9 NIV
