Day 11

The Law of Meditation

You may have sat in silence or meditation before. (You certainly have if you followed the recommendations I made for Day 9.) And you may already realize how valuable the art of meditation can be to those interested in creating an amazing life. If this is so, bravo! If not, this is your opportunity. Either way, today you’ll review the two key components of this law: One is passive or receptive, while the other is active or assertive.

In passive meditation, you sit in total silence while you count your blessings and enter a state of deep appreciation. Then you simply remain with your eyes closed and your head and eyes facing slightly upward. In this quiet gratitude, your mind opens and allows ideas to enter; it dissolves any static and becomes clear and receptive. You become present.

To experience passive meditation, maintain that clear, quiet, receptive state for at least five minutes, keeping a little notepad next to you to write down any thoughts that come. You’re like a radio, and you’ll receive inspiring ideas in this state. When one pops up—something that you can use in your practical life—write it down and return to your meditation. Simply continue passively receiving more new guidance.

Just remember this: The more grateful you are, the easier it is to receive, and the quicker the ideas enter; the sharper the image, the clearer the message; and the more gratitude you broadcast, the more clarity you receive. If you’re ungrateful, you’ll become distracted, and your mind will be clouded because you’ll have a lot of “static” in your receiving system. When you enter a state of balance and gratitude, however, the meditations become clear, and the passive reception can give you amazing insights that you’ll love to write down.

Once you’ve received an inspiring idea, you then begin the second form of meditation: the active part. This means taking the new concept and immediately concentrating on it in detail, focusing and becoming completely present with it. Hold the original image of your passive meditation, and then hone in with increasing attention to the particulars. Imagine yourself creating that inspiration into reality.

You begin as a creature receiving an insight, and you end as a creator manifesting it. From passive reception to active creation: These are the two forms of meditation.

When you consciously direct your mind in this way, the ideas that are inspiring to you become part of your daily life. Apply the Law of Meditation every day. It takes only about 15 minutes in all, but it allows you to truly enter “the zone.”

By that time, you become so present with your creations that they start showing up in your life. You attract the right people, places, things, ideas, and events in your mind—and make them real. Hold the images of your dreams, and apply active and passive meditation in your life. The Law of Meditation will help make your most inspiring dreams come true.
