27 Kick-start your day, but don’t grow your gut.

More than 30 percent of Americans eat breakfast outside the home—and two out of three of these breakfasts come from fast-food restaurants. That could spell dining disaster if you’re not careful. I’m all for eating breakfast, but please make it a healthy one when eating out. My suggestions:

Oatmeal with fresh fruit

Egg white omelet without cheese

2 scrambled eggs (without oil) and turkey sausage

Egg substitute scrambled with unbuttered corn grits

Yogurt and fresh fruit

Whole-grain bagel with fresh fruit and yogurt
