Yuletide

The word Yule is from Old English (before the twelfth century), borrowed from Old Norse (jul), and means the feast of the nativity of Jesus Christ, or Christmas Day (December 25). Yuletide is the season from Christmas Eve until New Year’s Day (or to Epiphany in the UK). Christmastide is a synonym, in use since 1626. A Yule log is a large log put on the hearth on Christmas Eve.
