Life and Death

1. Bob died when he was in Miami; he had stopped there to receive urgent medical attention. He wanted to spend his final days in Jamaica, but never got the chance.

2. Bob was a devout Rastafarian.

3. Because of his Rastafarian beliefs, Bob chose not to have his toe amputated. Sadly the toe was cancerous, and the cancer spread to the rest of his body.

4. Being a Rastafarian, Bob was a vegetarian - eating food known as Ital in that faith.

5. Bob was once arrested in England for possession of Cannabis.

6. Bob’s song Night Shift is about when he worked unsociable hours at the Chrysler plant in Delaware when he was 21.

7. Bob was once shot by unknown gunmen a couple of days before he was due to perform at a free concert in Jamaica. It is thought that the shooting was politically motivated. Bob still performed at the concert.

8. Bob was buried with a guitar, a bible, a soccer ball and a bud of marijuana.

9. As a child, Bob had a knack of predicting people’s future when reading their palms.

10. As a mark of respect after his death, the Jamaican Post Office issued seven national postage stamps.
