A catalyst in food-localization efforts, Michael Brownlee is copublisher of Local Food Shift magazine, weaving together the saga of the awakening Colorado foodshed. He is also active in the effort to bring local capital into the growing local food economy, and he organized the first Slow Money investment club in Colorado. Previously, Brownlee was cofounder of Boulder-based Local Food Shift Group (formerly known as Transition Colorado, the first officially recognized Transition initiative in North America), a nonprofit organization with the mission of building community resilience and self-reliance through localizing the food supply. With partner Lynette Marie Hanthorn, he offers consulting and workshops for emerging evolutionary catalysts.
