About the author
J. Chris Carter is a professor of geography at Long Beach City College, where he has over fifteen years’ experience teaching human geography and geographic information systems. He earned his PhD in the joint San Diego State University/University of California–Santa Barbara geography doctoral program, where his research focused on economic and urban change in Latin America. In addition to Long Beach City College, he has taught at the University of La Serena, Chile, and California State University, Long Beach. His areas of interest lie in the spatial patterns of urban, demographic, social, and economic change in the United States, Latin America, and beyond.
