Starting a Sketch

1. In the SOLIDWORKS 2018 window, click the Unit System drop-down at the lower right corner.
2. Select MMGS (millimeter, gram, second) from the drop-down.
3. To start a new sketch, click Sketch > Sketch on the CommandManager.

1. Left click on the front plane.

1. Click Sketch > Circle on the CommandManager to start creating a circle.
2. Select the origin point of the coordinate system.
3. Move the pointer away from the origin and click to draw the circle.

1. Press ESC to deactivate the tool.

Notice that the sketch appears shaded. This is the result of the Shaded Sketch Contours icon active on the Sketch tab of the ribbon. You can hide/show the shade inside the sketch by turning ON/OFF the Shaded Sketch Contours icon.
