Succulent Hoop

Is it a houseplant, or is it an art piece? This design is both! You’ll create a lush hanging garden of succulents using an embroidery hoop as your base. Play around with the colors, size, and placement of your succulents to make a unique display of your everlasting plants. This is a perfect alternative to a potted plant if you want to keep surfaces clear and utilize vertical space.

Supplies

7 finished succulents, 3 full-size, 4 small to medium

2 finished greenery stems with the stems trimmed to 1˝ below the last leaf

9˝ × 9˝ piece of neutral felt or other fabric

8˝ embroidery hoop

Scissors

Hot glue gun and glue sticks

SUCCULENT HOOP

STEP 1: Attach the fabric. Secure the felt in the embroidery hoop and tighten it slightly. Work your way around the hoop, pulling the fabric taut. Then tighten the hoop again.

STEP 2: Secure the fabric. Working from the back of the hoop, trim the fabric to about ¼˝ around the edges of the hoop. Working your way around the hoop in sections, wrap the fabric around the inner hoop and glue it in place along the inside edge.

Step 3: Arrange the succulents. Position the succulents on the hoop, arranging them as you’d like. Play around with the placement. Use your imagination and let real succulent gardens be your inspiration!

Step 4: Attach the succulents. Once you have an arrangement you like, glue the plants in place. Once you’re finished, if you’d like to add more plants, go ahead and do it!
